Thanks to three indentions on the rim of the bowl, you can rest the nut cracker right on top instead of in a pile of empty shells or on the tabletop. The lightweight, stainless steel nut cracker features two openings that hold nuts: the smallest measures 1/2-inch in diameter, and the other measures 1 inch in diameter. Each of the openings has a ridge of narrow grooves, so nuts are held firmly in place and won't slip or crack unevenly.
